The Comco-Ikarus C42 Cyclone is a two-seat high-wing ultralight aeroplane with a fixed tricycle undercarriage. Developed as the successor of the Fox C22, the Comco-Ikarus C42 is an innovative two-seat micro-light aircraft. Production of the C-42 started in 1997 and over 1.200 C42 are built and exported world-wide. The powerplant of the C42 is a 4-cylinder-4-stroke Rotax 912UL engine. The empty weight of the aeroplane is 275 kg. With an airspeed of 175 km/hr and a fuel tank volume of 50 litre the range of the C42B is approx. 650 km.

On 18 April 1997, the 1997-built Comco-Ikarus C42 Cyclone s/n 9701-6022 was registered PH-2Y5 in the Netherlands with B. van Klinken, Valthermond. On 1 July 1999, the registered ownership changed to J.P.N. Schouten, Bovenkarspel and J.W. Aeilkema, Vlagtwedde. On 3 January 2001, L. Jalving, Papenvoort, was registered as owner. On 19 July 2012, G.P.R. Scholte, Ter Apel, was registered as owner of the Comco-Ikarus C42 Cyclone PH-2Y5. On 14 June 2013, registration PH-2Y5 was cancelled as exported to Germany, and the Comco-Ikarus C42A Cyclone was re-registered D-MFVB. The MLA is powered by a Rotax 912 UL DCDI engine. On 1 April 2013, the Comco-Ikarus C42A PH-2Y5 was photographed at Ultraleicht Flugplatz Haren-Dankern in Germany.
