The HFL Flugzeugbau Stratos 300 is a single-seat pusher design ultralight aircraft with twin tail boom and König 3 cylinder radial engine.
The out of glass fibre strengthened synthetic built "Stratos" was a product of HFL Flugzeugbau GmbH from Luneburg in Germany.
The length of the Stratos 300 is 6,3 meters; the wingspan is 12,60 meters. An small air-cooled 3-cylinder, 2-stroke König SC-430 engine drives a 4-blade
folding propeller from Herz, which propels the ultralight forward with thrust from the rear. The three-cylinder König radial engine with
430 cc produces approximately 22 hp at 4200 rpm, weighs 17 kg, and consumes approximately 9.5 l/h of premium gasoline. The cruise speed of
the Statos is 92 km/h; the maximum speed is 120 km/h. Through the large wing surface the Stratos can be flown with a minimum speed of 45 km/h
and acts as an ultralight motorglider.
On 22 June 1989, the HFL Flugzeugbau Stratos 300 s/n 008 was registered PH-1W3 with A.T. Mensen in the Netherlands. The 1988-built
HFL Stratos 300 was powered by an air-cooled 3-cylinder, 2-stroke König SC-430. On 8 August 1989, HFL Stratos 300 PH-1W3 was registered with
Stichting Men-Air. On 2 November 1993, J. van der Heide was registered as new owner. On 21 August 1996, Stichting Men-Air was
again registered as owner. On 27 July 2007, registration was cancelled: more then 1 year without valid CofA. It is known that
next to s/n 008 in the Dutch aviation-register; Werk nr. 300/008 was used by HFL Flugzeugbau for HFL Flugzeugbau Stratos 300 PH-1W3.
On 9 September 2006, HFL Flugzeugbau Stratos 300 PH-1W3 was seen at MLA Flugplatz Dankern near Haren (Ems) (DE-0195).
