The Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub is a two-seat high-wing light utility aircraft.
The Piper PA-18 Super Cub flew for the first time in 1949, and the FAA Type certification was
awarded on 18 November 1949. The first production Super Cubs were delivered in 1949. Over
10.000 Super Cubs were built, including about 8,500 civilian Super Cubs and more than 1,800
delivered to the U.S. and several foreign military services as L-18Cs and L-21s for liaison;
training; transport and target tugs work. Most of the Super Cubs were built until 1981 when
production originally ceased. Super Cub production resumed by WTA between 1982 and 1988
totalled 250. Between 1988 and 1994 Piper Aircraft built another 102.
The 1963-built Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub s/n 18-7910 was registered
N3974Z in the USA. On 20 February 1967, the aircraft was registered
PH-ROB in the Netherlands with E.J.E. Heijens in Hulst. Next to the
framenumber 18-7910, framenumber 18-8081 is given to this Super Cub. The
1964-built Piper PA-18-150 c/n 18-8081 was registered N4070Z in the USA,
but no further details about this aircraft are known. On 29 September
1971, PA-18-150 PH-ROB was registered with M.J.M. Duyvensteijn at Teuge
airfield. On 31 January 1974, the aircraft was registered with Air
Advertising Holland BV, Twello. The next registered owner was Air
Service Zeeland BV, Arnemuiden, at vliegveld Midden Zeeland, on 15
November 1974. In 1976, the aircraft returned to Teuge airfield and was
registered wih Air Service Holland BV, Twello, on 16 August 1976. Aviation Service Holland BV,
Hilversum, was registered as owner on 19 May 1983..The PH-ROB was
registered with Aviation Service Holland BV, Teuge. on 10 May 1984.
Super Cub PH-ROB was registered with J.M. Slob, Appelscha, on 12
July 1984 and on 23 March 1987, the aircraft was registered with Gooise
Zweefvliegclub at vliegveld Hilversum. In 1991, Piper PA-18-150 PH-ROB
moved it base to Hoogeveen airfield and entered service with Aero Noord
Nederland. In service with Aero Noord Nederland the PH-ROB was
registered with H.J. Doctor, Nijverdal, as owner on 4 October 1991. The
aircraft was registered with Aero Noord BV at Hoogeveen as operator and
D. de Ruiter as owner on 14 November 2003. Aero Noord
used the Piper mainly for towing advertising slogans. On 11 January 2008, the Super Cub
PH-ROB was registered with R.T. Heinen, Anna Paulowna.
