Boeing 737-8BG s/n 32356 l/n 819 flew first as N1786B on 29 March 2001. The aircraft is owned by GATX Capital and leased by SAA South African Airways. The Boeing was intended for SAA as ZS-SJL but this registration was ntu as the Boeing was sub-leased to Transavia Airlines. The aircraft was registered PH-HZZ in the Netherlands on 17 April 2001. After the summer season the Boeing was delivered to SAA as ZS-SLJ and the registration PH-HZZ was cancelled on 2 November 2001. In 2005 the Boeing was sub-leased again by Transavia and the 737 was registered PH-HZZ again on 20 April 2005. The Boeing, fitted with winglets, arrived on delivery at Amsterdam-Schiphol on 18 April 2005.
