The Schempp-Hirth Arcus is a flapped two seater class glider developed and built by Schempp-Hirth Flugzeugbau, Kirchheim, Germany. The aircraft has
a wingspan of 20.00 m; a wing area of 15.6 m2 and a fuselage length of 8.73 m. The wings have flaperons integrated along the whole span. The Arcus
is a further development of the Cirrus and the Janus, an high-performance two seater buit in composite technology. On April 7, 2009, the Schempp-Hirth
Arcus prototype (Arcus T s/n 1 D-KARC) took off for its maiden flight at Hahnweide. The Arcus is available as a pure glider, a turbo using the Solo
2350-engine, and as a self-launching glider using the Solo 2625-02i. The Schempp-Hirth Arcus M is the production variant with self-launching capabilities,
using the Solo 2625-02i engine. The solar cells visible on the engine compartment flaps are intended for the battery charger and have no function with
regard to the drive of the Solo 2625-02i engine. On 4 December 2023, the 400th Schempp-Hirth Arcus was delivered. The ICAO Aircraft Type Designator
for the Schempp-Hirth Arcus M is ARCP |
